Matching Your Gift
Financial contributions from supporters of Living Room help us to continue providing life-sustaining housing resources and assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. With your support, we are able to strongly impact the lives of those who walk through our doors in desperate need of a safe, affordable place to call home. We invite you to maximize the impact of your giving and make an even greater difference in the lives of others by asking your employer to match your donation to the Living Room.

What are matching gifts?
Companies that have a matching gifts program may match contributions from employees to the Living Room. It is a great way to increase support of our housing programs!

How do I find out if my employer has a matching gifts program?
It's simple! Contact your company's human resources department. If your employer has a matching gifts program, you should also ask if a contribution to Living Room qualifies for a matching gift. If so, you should request a matching gift application to complete.

What donations to Living Room qualify for matching grants?
Contributions from employees (and sometimes spouses and retirees) of the company offering the matching gifts program qualify for a company match.

Do matching gifts from the employer count toward individual gifts?
No, matching gifts are recorded as gifts from the company. Most companies require a signed statement from Living Room that the individual requesting the matching gift will not receive any benefits from the matching gift.

How are matching gift forms submitted to the Living Room?
If Living Room qualifies for a matching gift, complete the employee portion of the form and send the form and personal donation to:

Join Our AIDS Walk Team
Living Room will be a participating organization for AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run 2012, scheduled for a Sunday in mid-October 2012. As a participating organization, we have the opportunity to recruit walkers and be a beneficiary of funds raised through this year’s event. Every walker on our team raises money for Living Room, which is why we need you to walk (and get donations) as part of the Living Room Team.

Signing up to walk for us is simple: (Registration for 2012 is not yet open.)

• Visit aidswalkatlanta.com
• Click on the Register button
• Read the limited liability waiver and click I agree if you agree
• Click on Join a Team
• Select Living Room from the list, and click Continue
• Complete the demographic information as requested

The cost for an individual walker registration is $10, and all the donations you raise will support Living Room. If you are part of a church, civic, or school group interested in fundraising exclusively for Living Room, please contact Dolph Ward Goldenburg. If your group was not a team, or has not participated as a sub-team for another Participating organization, in the past two years (2010 and 2011), we would love to have you under our umbrella.

As part of our participation in AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run, we also need to contribute 30 volunteer hours to the Walk. For this reason, we also welcome volunteers who want to support the Living Room and the AIDS Walk by volunteering through us. All walkers, teams and volunteers will be recognized in our Winter Newsletter.

Four Ways to Participate:

  • Sign up as a walker or runner
  • Become a virtual walker and raise money online
  • Register your church, school, company or other group as a sub-team
  • Volunteer your time for AIDS Walk projects

Questions about walking, coordinating a group, or volunteering?

Volunteer for Living Room

Living Room has long believed that one of its greatest assets is the role volunteers play in the organization. We have been blessed over the years in having an unbelievable group of volunteers, many of whom started off as Living Room clients wanting to give back and help others in need. Our volunteers help in a variety of ways depending on their interests and the needs of the organization. The one thing they all have in common is a desire to help people with nothing expected in return. We are currently looking to expand our volunteer force in order to better serve our clients. If you are interested in applying or would like more information about volunteering, please email our Director of Client Services Twilynn Jourdain at twilynn.jourdain@livingroomatl.org and let her know you’d like to join the Living Room team!
